   The time is coming that most of us are anxiously waiting for. For
many people, the turning of the leaves to brown signals the coming of the end of another year. To us skiers, this prepares us for the new ski season which is about to be born.

"A time die...........
A time to heal......"

   In spite of all the excitement and anticipation of a new ski
season, the past few months have been marred by the deaths of beloved family members of some of our ski club 'family.' We all weep and mourn with all of you who have lost someone special in your lives. Hopefully, the healing process has started to help the understanding of the cycles of life and loss.

"A time to laugh......."

   Watchung has a long history of laughter. Ski trips, whether for
one day, a weekend, or one week, are famous for uplifting the spirits of those who participate in them. Each trip has its own flavor and humorous events that are long remembered by those who attend. It is said that laughter is good medicine and there is plenty of that on WASC trips. Beside the fulfillment of skiing, these trips provide refreshing respite to relieve the stress and tension of everyday life.

   Don't miss the trips planned for this ski season. Besides the day
trips to Hunter, Windham, Belleayre, etc., there are two new weekend
trips--Ascutney and Mount St. Anne. You don't want to miss out on the fun of discovering new and exciting skiing challenges and renewing friendships. And don't forget the western trip. Somehow, our trip leaders outdo themselves every year. Be part of the fun.

"A time to plant.........
A time to build up......"

   It's time to plant the seeds to strengthen and rejuvenate
Watchung. The Jamboree and Open House are great opportunities to recruit new members. Come out to both of these events to support the club and reaffirm the ideals that were started over 60 years ago. Our founders had a dream. We today are keeping it alive by being involved in meetings, social events, and, of course, skiing.

   We must realize that Watchung is special. Its members are
friendlier to newcomers. Our trips are more successful than those of other ski clubs. In addition, there is a wide variety of activities that are available during other seasons. The friendships developed are valuable. Although the people who come to Watchung span many ages, have different backgrounds, and have different lifestyles, the club works because there is acceptance and respect among its members.

"A time of hate
A time of war
A time of peace......"

   Watchung works. At a time when there is so much hatred and
warfare in the world, there should be "a time for peace." Skiing provides this for many of us. Let's hope that this is the time for peace for both individuals and the world.
